ABOUT THE XBOUNDER

We know training.

The XBounder was created to maximize training efficiency whether players are practicing on their own or in a group setting.

It works using fundamental soccer principles:

  • Train how you play – a player’s hustle and effort in practice will be reflected in how they perform on gameday. And the way a player contacts the ball in practice will be reflected in how they contact the ball in an actual game. Unlike other rebounders, the XBounder was designed to take full-power shots and return them with just the right pace, so a player never has to “pull their punches” in training.

  • Get lots of touches – the body learns by doing. The XBounder enables a player to get more shots, passes, and traps in a training session, and spend less time chasing after the ball or digging it out of the net. And the ease of setting up and packing up, plus true portability, means players can get those extra touches in day after day.

  • Aim at a target – When a player is learning and practicing shooting, the focus will often be on the basic physical steps (shoulders down, knee over the ball, follow through, etc.) but a crucial “invisible step”, aiming, is often lacking. Training with an XBounder encourages the player to aim at a target whenever they’re shooting, rather than using the “shotgun” technique, aka “spray and pray”. A player who includes aiming as part of the steps in their shot hits the ball with more accuracy and intention and, because aiming is a mental step, is more calm in front of the goal.

  • Practice keeping your shots low – Low shots are harder for a keeper to stop than shots at shoulder height, and a player who practices shooting low is less likely to sky the ball when it counts. The XBounder can be set up in the lower half of the goal so that players get used to keeping their shots down. When the time comes, the XBounder can be set up in the upper half of the net and used to target the upper corners and practice free kicks.

  • Get immediate feedback – The basic cycle when learning any skill is: action, feedback, correction, repeat. Immediate feedback is best, so that the learner can make incremental, immediate corrections to the action and repeat right away. The XBounder provides that immediate feedback by rebounding the ball differently if the player’s contact isn’t solid and accurate. And when the contact is just right, the player hears that satisfying “shwip” of the net before the ball is returned to them.
